Pagoda Rosso Veronese IGT (David Sterza)

Pagoda Rosso Veronese IGT (David Sterza)

SYRAH 50%, CABERNET SAUVIGNON 25% – MERLOT 25%

Appassimento style for 2 months, wine is aged 12 months in 225lt. French casks.

Regal ruby red in the glass with smoky blackberry-black cherry coulis, vanilla, and spice overwhelm your olfactory, you can’t help but indulge. Crisp layers of Damsan plum, luscious wild berry, white pepper, on a backdrop of leather and smoke tease the palate. There is a welcomed, surprising softness to its imposing structure. A smooth and balanced wild berry finish that leaves toasted vanilla and spice lingering.

Best to serve chilled, around 18°C. This robust Syrah will stand up to grilled/stewed/roasted red meat and large game, lasagna, aged cheeses, and roast lamb with rosemary and garlic.

A blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot that is big on smoky berry compote and even bigger when served with bold foods.

This traditional Veronese blend should be cellared for at least the next 6 months. Up to 3 more years would be an ideal beginning for a drinkability window. Aeration is recommended when a long, chilled decanting is not possible.

David Sterza began his winemaking journey in 1998 with his cousin Paolo Mascanzoni. Together they decided on the best vines to begin making wine. Prior to their work together, Agricola David Sterza only sold their fruit to other winemakers and did not produce wine themselves. The Verona IGT is located in the Veneto region in north-eastern Italy. The region is designated for red and white wine, with the Covina, Molinara, and Rondinella varietals as the standard.
