Corvina Veronese IGT (David Sterza)
Corvina IGT Veronese
This represents a fascinating opportunity to try the Corvina grape variety as a 100% varietal wine (Corvina is usually one of many constituents that make up the famous Amarone style produced in Veneto). Grapes are air dried for two months, prior crushing. Wine is aged 12 months in Frenck Oak barriques. Christmas cake, kirsch and raisins all dominate on the nose before giving way to a fruit-forward, nearly (but not quite) sweet core. Perhaps slightly more restrained than David Sterza’s Amarone and more focussed on elegance.
